Game on for Gutierrez in GP3

ART Grand Prix’s Esteban Gutierrez had a flawless race weekend at Silverstone, qualifying on pole, taking the win and fastest lap in Race One and following it up with a hard fought 3rd place in Race Two.

Gutierrez has been in inspired form in this year’s EuropeanGP3 series, stepping up to the podium on five occasions, with three wins and two third places to go with his two pole positions.

This remarkable record means Gutierrez now holds a 26 point championship lead over ART teammate Alexander Rossi who also had a successful meet at Silverstone, finishing 5th in Race One and stepping up to the podium in Race Two with a determined 2nd place.

Commenting on his latest victory, Gutierrez said ”We are very happy because we’ve been able to take advantage of the good performance we have had so far. It is very important to keep focused on one race at a time, not thinking too much in the championship”.

“The race was difficult because I did not have a good start and I had a little pressure but I was focused on the race and trying to not make any mistakes. Later on we increased the gap to the second place and set the fastest lap of the race, which is very positive for the championship standings”.

“Thank God it’s been a good weekend so far, and now we move forward thinking on tomorrow’s race. I feel very grateful to my family, my girlfriend and to all the people who are here with us, especially because them being here motivates me in a very special way”.

Gutierrez will continue his quest for the GP3 Euroseries title at the next race at Hockenheim, Germany on July 24.
