A1 GP Rd.1 - Zandvoort, Netherlands

The A1GP World Cup of Motorsport kicked off this past weekend in Zandvoort (NED) with Team Great Britain winning the feature race in the season-opener. Oilver Jarvis proudly displayed the Scottish flag on the newly-liveried GBR chanllenger in tribute to the late Colin McRae (World Rally Champion).

Team Germany, Switzerland, France, Mexico and New Zealand were hot on the trail of the leading duo of Teams Great Britain and South Africa. Race Leader South Africa went into the pits at lap 12 and once out he rejoined the race in second position behind Team GBR, who after laying down some serious hot laps, gained track position and the race lead. By lap 15 all 22 teams had their first stops under their belts and the race order settled briefly to Team GBR, South Africa, Switzerland, New Zealand, Mexico and Germany respectively.

With the combined results from the sprint race it is now Team South Africa who leads the A1GP current standings with 28pts followed by Great Britain with 19pts, France with 18pts, Mexico with 17pts and Switzerland with 16pts.

Next round of A1GP action goes down at Brno in the Czech Republic on October 14th, '08.
