Coast to Coast: Busch Wins Fifth Nationwide Race of 2009

His fifth NASCAR Nationwide Series victory of the season, the amazing Kyle Busch of the Joe Gibbs Racing organization ruled the 12-degree banks of the1.058-mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway to claim the 200-lap Camping World RV Sales 200.

"We just kept adjusting on our car all day," explained Busch of how he and his team wrenched on the car throughout the race to end up with the win. "Normally, when we're out front, we don't adjust on it. Today we didn't have the winning car, we made the winning car.

"Jason Ratcliff (crew chief) and myself, we talked this past week about what we need in order to get better, in order to take this team to Victory Lane instead of finishing second week in and week out. This is a good step in the right direction."

Second to Busch in New Hampshire was Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Joey Logano, the duo slamming home the dominance the JGR Toyotas have displayed all season long. Placing third was the JR Motorsports Chevrolet of Brad Keselowski. Mike Bliss, in a James Finch-owned Chevy, and Kevin Harvick finished off the top five.

Logano, who started the race from the pole, held sway right from the drop of the green flag, keeping a hard charging Carl Edwards of the Roush Racing camp in his mirrors. 100 laps into the 200 lap event, Edwards found himself in the lead, one elapsed second better than Logano, Brian Vickers, Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick. After a flurry of pit stops, on lap number 110, Logano was back up front with Vickers and Busch giving chase. 23 laps later, Busch rumbled by Vickers and began shadowing Logano. Then, on lap 157, the caution flag was thrown, sending the lead cars into their respective pit stalls. Busch took on two new tires in an effort to make a charge to the checkers. With 40 laps to go, the race went back to green, and with 36 laps left to go, Busch slipped by Logano and found himself in P1. From that point, it as all over but the shouting as Busch easily steered the JGR Toyota to the finish line — and into Victory Lane.
