Casey Stoner’s World Tour “Walkabout”

On Sunday, September 28, 2008, the A-Style Grand Prix of Japan at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit began a three-stop flyaway tour that also included the Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island, Australia. The trans-continental “walkabout” will make one last touchdown at the Polini Malaysian Grand Prix in Sepang, Malaysia this Sunday, October 19. Upon finishing things up in Malaysia, the mighty Grad Prix teams that make up the globetrotting MotoGP world tour will finally head back to Europe for the season-ending Grand Premio Parts Europe De La Comunitat Valenciana at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, Spain on October 26. For Casey Stoner and the Ducati Marlboro team, this late season intercontinental sweep has been extremely successful, the 2007 MotoGP World Champion very much on-form, pacing second in Japan and winning in his home nation of Australia.

Casey Stoner — who has won 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP Grands Prix at Sepang — hopes to end this three-race triple play with yet another victory before heading back to sunny Spain.

"Over the last few rounds we've managed to set a good pace in all of the dry practice sessions and struggled a little bit in the wet,” offers Stoner, who has won five Grands Prix in 2008 and is second in points to only Valentino Rossi. “We think we found a good wet setting in Australia so unless there's an unexpected problem that crops up we should be okay for any conditions at Sepang. I like the track and I've got good memories because I've won there in every category - 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP. The track is a good mix, there are some fast corners with a lot of lean angle and some tight ones that aren't much fun. We'll give our best to finish the season in a positive way, with some good results, although to be honest my mind is on the test at the end of the season at Valencia, when we can start to work on the new Desmosedici".
