After coming of three wins at he Honda US OPEN OF SURFING, Chad Kagy had so much momentum going into the X-Games. Sadly in some situations, when you play hard, you pay hard. Kagy was killing it in on the Mega Ramp, and making it look easy in practice. While practicing on the Mega Ramp for the qualifier Chad took a bad spill that would take him out of the event, both Mega Ramp, and Vert BMX. Chad immediately took off to San Diego for surgery on his collar bone, getting fixed by the best man in the business Dr Chow.
