Chad Reed Crowned King of Bercy

Though he lost the first 12-lap main event on the opening night of the 25th annual Paris Bercy Supercross in the jam-packed Omnisport Palais to Team Yamaha’s Grant Langston, Chad Reed charged back to win the second main over young French rider Benjamin Coisy and Langston. And from that point forward, there was no stopping the Australian rider who went on to win every overall main on both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon to win the prestigious “King of Bercy” title for the first time in his career.

“I couldn’t expect a better result for my come back in Bercy, and I’m so happy to win this race,” beamed Reed from the podium. “During three nights I had to battle strongly with Grant Langston and Andrew Short, and it was a good race to prepare next season. The crowd was amazing, as always in Bercy, and I had good time here in Paris.”

Also aboard a Yamaha, recently christened 2007 AMA National Motocross Champion Grant Langston placed second on Sunday, and in doing so, was the runner-up for the Paris-Bercy overall. Third on Sunday and third in overall points went to Team Honda’s Andrew Short. And while Short could not defeat Reed and South Africa’s Grant Langston, he did find please in leading Team USA to the victory in the “Team Challenge” over “The Rest of the World” and the “Team France” squads. Deemed the “Team Captain” of the American effort, Short was backed up by the strong riding of teammates Josh Grant, Justin Brayton and Michael Brown who placed fourth, fifth and sixth on the last day of racing.
