Colton Haaker lasso's a podium in Guthrie Endurocross

Colton Haaker takes a third place finish at a fast wide open second round in Oklahoma. The track was about 50% longer than the Vegas round, the lap times were around a minute and twenty seconds and a motocross track in comparison. The difficulty and technicality was missing. Nevertheless, the crowd was used to a ball-busting rodeo and they wouldn’t be disappointed.

Colton started his day in the later afternoon as he is now a pre qualified rider and what a better way to start it than by forgetting your boots? HA yes he got a ride back to the hotel to grab them so he wouldn’t have to wear his new vans. He got back all suited up just in time for the track walk and practice. Speaking of practice, his bike stalled in the water hole and it would not re-fire. Time is ticking down as he had his fast lap to do in a matter of minutes. He had at least five people helping him figure it out at one point. As his father stayed home taking care of his ill mother. With enough time to spare they got the bike running thanks to Sean Finely and Ash from Christini. On the hot lap he had a little bobble in the rocks which caused him to go down and with a mediocre time he found himself in the first heat race with the sixth gate pick.

In the heat race Colton got off to a great start in secondj place. On lap two his bike stalled again before the rocks. Frantic he kicks it over for what seemed like forever. You see him put his hands up in a disappointed manner. He puts it in neutral and tries again and it suddenly fires up. Now in fourth with two laps remaining his thoughts about the semi sounded better and better. Until on the next lap second place gets stuck in the rocks. Colton moves to third and chases down the final transfer position. With a last pitch effort he overtakes second and realized he had just ended his unlucky streak.

The main event

With loads of confidence Colton started off the main super aggressive almost taking the lead on the first lap. Now sitting in third coming into the fourth turn Colton punts Dietrich over a log going for second place. With possibly a pre mature move Colton is stuck on that very log and gets passed up. He had an extreme amount of urgency on the first lap and it showed in that instance and again in the rocks where Brozovich goes down and with nowhere to go Colton splatters his bike like last year in the National trials sections on the old 125. Now in third Colton charges up to Dietrich and by the third lap he is no more than two feet behind him. Later that lap he made a slight mistake and settled for third. As Dietrich went on to challenge Huffman. Colton had a scary moment on the final rock pile where he went down. Haha later he stated that he wanted to make the crowd hold there breathe and he said he was only playing around. Ecstatic he took a few interviews, sprayed some champagne, exchanged some laughs and signed some autographs. He was on Cloud 6 haha and says Cloud 9 is coming soon.
