Formula One rd.13 - Gran Premio d'Italia 2007 (Monza)

The day couldn't have been better for the McLaren team coming 1-2 in Monza. This was the first time McLaren achieved this result at what is considered the home for Ferrari. In qualifying McLaren dominated, both Alonso and Hamilton opted for a two-stop strategy and therefore ran the cars lighter. At the start of the race it seemed as if Felipe Massa was on a similar strategy as the McLaren boys where as Kimi was on a one-stop run.

With this result, McLaren is left leading the world championship for constructors with 166 points just 23 ahead of Ferrari with only four races left. In the driver's standings it left Hamilton at 92 points with reigning world champ Alonso breathing down the youngster's neck only 3 points behind with 89.

BMW Sauber had a good run at Milanese Park with Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica coming in fourth and fifth respectively.

Heidfeld had a mistake free race and was happy brining home fourth while Kubica could have been a little happier if not for the bad parking in his stop which caused him to lose time as the crew struggled to rectify the situation. All in all, Kubica was happy with the car but he did comment that the F107 still needs more work when running the high fuel load.

Nico Rosberg scored 3 points with a sixth place finish for Williams F1. Rosberg was pleased with the performance of the Toyota engine and this weekend's result keeps Williams fifth in the constructor's championship with 25 points.

Heikki Kovalainen brought his Renault home in 7th place with Jenson Button trailing home 8th for Honda. This is only Honda's second point in the season a season that has been dismal for the Honda team but with the performance that Button displayed it's still safe to say that in the right equipment Button would be a front-runner.

Next race is the 2007 FORMULA 1 ING Belgian Grand Prix (Spa-Francorchamps) on September 16th.
