Name: Nathaniel Curran
Birthday: August 6th 1984
Hometown: Oxnard, CA
The soft-spoken natural-footer from Oxnard, California grew up surfing the classic right hand point breaks of the California coast and he now marks his name as the second of the Currans who found his way their way to the elite ASP World Tour. A prodigious up-and-comer in his younger years, Curran's ascent to the top has been anything but easy. Marred by injury, Nathaniel laid it all on the line in 2008, taking out credit loans and selling his possessions to chase the dream...and it paid off. Curran was the most consistent surfer on the ASP WQS in 2008, jumping into the lead with a victory at the U.S. Open and never looking back. The Oxnard native led the second half of the season commandingly, consistently posting impressive results in several premier events, while adding his name to a short list of competitors to win two ASP 6-Star events in the 2008 season. The impressive performance demonstrated by Curran in was enough to win the ASP WQS season set him up on the dream tour….

Good Attitude - Bad Luck
(July 19, 2010) Alpinestars' driver Travis "The Wonderboy" Pastrana dominated the majority of the New England Forest Rally this past weekend at the wheel of his BFGoodrich Tires-shod 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI before a problem with his engine stopped him on the penultimate competition stage, forcing him to retire. Pastrana and co-driver Christian Edstrom were able to pull away convincingly from the competition early and built a lead of over three minutes on the event’s technical gravel roads that snake through the forests along the Maine-New Hampshire border. Then unexpectedly, with under fifteen competitive stage miles remaining, Pastrana experienced an engine problem which forced him to stop on stage, ending his run to victory. “The rally went 100% our way up until the very end,” explained Pastrana. “My Subaru was set up well, we were able to get a nice lead after the first day and then extend and maintain that lead on the second day very easily. Plus a few other teams were slowed with their own problems. The win was nearly in sight when our engine began to hit trouble, but that’s rallying and we put on a great show for the fans all weekend.”
Jeff Weatherall's First Hand Episode!
Airing Sunday, July 18, at 8:00pm Eastern Time (5:00pm Pacific Time), and re-airing several more times during the next month, pro wakeboarder Jeff Weatherall stars in FUEL TV’s signature 30-minute series “Firsthand.” FUEL TV hits the road with eight-time New Zealand National Champion, Jeff Weatherall. Considered the best professional rider to ever have come out of New Zealand, Jeff now focuses his time on filming and taking photos in some of the most beautiful places in the world. Also an avid surfer, skater, motocross rider and snowboarder, Jeff is always on the road pursuing a good time. Firsthand meets up with Jeff on the Gold Coast of Australia where he initiates a surf adventure on an outer island. After two failed missions, Jeff scores perfect surf then hits a local cable park for some rail-riding with Australian wakeboard legends Daniel Watkins and Brett “Ike” Eisenhauer. From Oz, Jeff takes us to his native country of New Zealand. After a session at Blue Lake, Jeff sessions Dick Park before it is torn down for the winter. From there, Jeff heads to the New Zealand Nationals to defend his title against young gun Nick Gibson. Before heading to California for the northern hemi summer, Jeff gets one last session in at Orakei Korako geothermal park, one of the most scenic lakes in the world. X Games 16 On the Move in LA!
The historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, site of the 1932 & 1984 Olympic Games and birthplace of the sport of Supercross in 1972, is back in the mix for X Games 16! The grand old stadium takes center stage as the world's best motocross racers battle for the gold on July 29-31. The Moto X Super X (formerly known as Moto X Racing) competition is set to include men's, women's and adaptive athlete classes. It all kicks off at the Coliseum, Thursday July 29 at 3pm. Tickets are only $16. In addition to the Moto X Super X competition, the stadium will also host the fastest event of X Games, Rally Car SuperRally in, and around, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum... including the infamous "peristyle jump" from the top of the historic entrance to the stadium floor! Above and beyond the high-flying motorized action, BMX Freestyle Big Air, Skateboard Big Air and Skateboard Big Air Rail Jam competition will also be housed at the same facility. The human-powered flights of fancy should rival the MX bikes as the athletes will be launching over massive 50- and 70-foot gaps into a 27-foot quarterpipe that has been specially constructed for X Games 16. The X Games makes its eighth appearance in Los Angeles July 29-August 1 with events staged at the STAPLES Center, the Nokia Theatre (across the street from the STAPLES Center), and the Event Deck at LA Live. Come check it out! Hope we see ya there!
