(By: 23 Degrees Sports) - Full results are not still available, but we're happy to let you all know that Greg has qualified fastest for Sunday's Downhill World Championships. His time of 4m 53.32secs was good enough, despite a few mistakes at the top of the course, and a couple of sit-down's on the bike in some other pedally sections.
1st. Greg Minnaar (RSA) - 4m 53.32secs
2nd. Gee Atherton (GBR) - 4m 53.38secs
3rd. Julien Camellini (FRA) - 4m 57.40secs
4th. Mick Hannah (AUS) - 4m 58.18secs
5th. Florent Payet (FRA) - 5m 00.00secs
This is the first time Greg has qualified 1st for the World Championships. He has finished in the medals in all of his 5 most recent attempts, including the World Championship gold medal in 2003.
"I'm really comfortable on this track, and I'm happy to have the fastest time. This was my goal for today and I learned a good deal from that run, and feel quietly confident about Sunday. Starting last really energises me, so I can't wait for the big one!".
Greg is not doing 4X this year and so he's now back at the hotel for a bit of relaxation before training starts again tomorrow.
