A1 GP Review Rounds 1 - 3

The new A1GP season may only be three rounds old but there has already been enough action packed into the 6 races to whet the appetite of the race fans the world over.

Currently Team Ireland’s Adam Carroll leads the way with a total of two victories already amassed from his 6 starts. After retiring from both the sprint and feature race in the Netherlands, Adam has really been the class of the field, helping Team Ireland to lead the championship by 8 points from second place Team Portugal.

Former Champions Team Switzerland are battling hard to close the gap on the leaders and currently sit in sixth place overall with 28 points. Team Switzerland’s driver, Neel Jani, has also retired from two of the six races so far and has managed to finish inside the top five in the other four.

Neel took a victory last time out in the heat of Malaysia, but failed to capitalize further by retiring from the second race of the day.

For Team India, there was a high level of optimism in the garage after a successful 07/08 campaign which saw team driver, Narain Karthikeyan, take two victories and a pole position.

after missing the opening two rounds of the championship, they made a promising start in round two with a solid pair of tenth place finishes.

Narain Karthikeyan was looking to build on this in the sprint and feature races in Malaysia, however he was taken out of contention in both races and failed to complete a single lap of the track. First being rammed in the back before the start of the sprint race which caused severe damage to the back of the car and then Narain got taken out in a first corner altercation in the feature race.

The team will be hoping for better luck as they head into the fourth round of the Championship in New Zealand in the New Year.
