Roger Lee Hayden Thrills Laguna Seca...

Roger Lee Hayden Thrills Laguna Seca Crowds with Supersport Victory - The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix festivities truly got underway at approximately 4:30 P.M. on Saturday afternoon, July 21, 2007 when the AMA Supersport classification took to the Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca. And what resulted was a genuine old school, crowd-pleasing, biff! Bang, Pow motorcycle race. Graves Yamaha racer Josh Herrin was the early star of the show on a brilliant, sunny California day, leading the most of the second half of the race, coming up just one corner short at Hayden snaked the Yamaha rider in the final corner and kept him behind his lime green Monster Energy Kawasaki ZX-6R by 0.09 seconds at the finish. Steve Rapp of the Attack Kawasaki outfit had enjoyed a great race, placing third overall and assuming the final spot on the Laguna podium. Monster Kawasaki’s Jamie Hacking placed fourth overall. It was a bittersweet result for hacking as he actually battled for the lead in the early goings of the race before making a costly mistake in turn number two. M4 EMGO Suzuki’s Geoff May was fifth at the finish line.

As far as the 2007 AMA Supersport Championship goes, Laguna Seca truly shook things up dramatically as points leader Josh Hayes and Roger Lee Hayden tangled on lap number six, Hayes hitting the gravel, unable to continue.
