Trading Places: Toseland and Biaggi Score Wins at Brno World Superbike - Hannspree Ten Kate Honda's James Toseland and Alstare Corona Extra Suzuki's Max Biaggi each scored a victory in the World Superbike Championship round held on Sunday, July 22, 2007 at the famed and historical Brno circuit in the Czechoslovakian Republic. His sixth win of the 2007 WSB season, Toseland fended of the spirited attacks of Alstare Corona Extra teammates Biaggi and Yukio Kagayama, as well as Yamaha Motor Italia's Noriyuki Haga in the opening leg. Losing out to Toseland by a mere .237 of a second in the opening race only made the Roman-born Biaggi hungrier to win the second leg. An that’s exactly what Mad Max Biaggi did, riding away from Toseland in the second race, opening up a healthy 1.5-second lead which he held to the finish line. Third to Toseland, some four seconds back, was Michel Fabrizio. It was the Italian rider’s first podium of the 2007 World Superbike Championship. Nori Haga was fourth, approximately once second behind.
As far as the World Superbike Championship points chase is concerned, Toseland’s 1-2 race finishes in Czechoslovakia allowed him to stretch his lead for the title to 43 points over Max Biaggi (305 to 262). Nori Haga slots in at third with 260 points. Reigning World Champion Troy Bayliss had an abysmal day at Brno, crashed out in race one by KarL Muggeridge, then only riding to sixth place in race number two.
